How will AI, IoT and other technological developments impact the future of work in the field of design? Having a closer look at current trends transforming the nature of work, these emerging technologies and the development of design as a discipline in the last years, we set out to explore what the future of design work might look like and how it will be taught in 10 to 25 years.
By using various research methods we explored questions such as what new forms of work will exist, how will the working environment for designers look like, and how will organizations and our understanding of the meaning of work evolve. We then explored future scenarios for design work and its influence on how design education might look like inthe future from an integrative perspective.

How should designers adapt in the future integration of the virtual and physical worlds?
We are living in the middle of a digitized society that is expected to become increasingly digital over the next ten years with various fields of work merging together. We are living in an integrated world. Due to technical progress and the merging of work fields, the title and field of activity of a graphic designer are going to transform into that of a Multi-dimensional Visual Creator (MVC).
Such transformation will require relevant professional adaptations both in terms of workspace and workflow i.e. an environment where a designer could simultaneously operate across those multiple domains. The proposed MVC platform provides the capacity for a designer to work predominantly in a virtual space where she/he can design visual products both in virtual and physical spaces.
